About Us

Our predecessor club, Tacoma GYRO, originated on December 11,1923 (yes – that’s 100 years ago) and has been continuously active since that time.  The club has had a recent name change to the Cascade Club of Tacoma to better prepare us for our future.

We are a group of business and professional men with interests in community issues, activities and local resources.  Although we like to joke about our slogan being “self above service”; unlike other service clubs of “service above self”; our true meaning lies in fellowship and learning.  That is being selfish but at the same time it provides us with opportunities to get to know each other.  We don’t build things in the community and we don’t donate to others thru the club but we don’t solicit money.  Most of us have been members of one of the various service clubs in the past but now we spend our time educating ourselves about the world and each other.  So, when we think of others to invite to join us, we let them know that fellowship and learning are our main goals.

Our membership is approximately 75 with 35 – 40 attending most weeks.

The Covid-19 pandemic disrupted our usual in-person meetings.  Our group, being resourceful and persistent, adapted to our environment and we continued with our Tuesday noon meetings but rather than in person we migrated to the digital format of ZOOM.

Now that we have subdued the Covid-19 pandemic, we have resumed our weekly in-person meetings at the Tacoma Country & Golf Club (TC&GC) but have continued with a Zoom link too.

So, feel free to dive into our website and discover our meeting schedule and the speakers Meeting Schedule we have lined up for the coming weeks & months, our newsletters from past meetings and our past speakers who have (mostly) enthralled us over the past weeks, months and years.
